Willow Grading
How we grade willow
Pro
SelectedOur highest grade of willow, selected from premium clefts with exceptional overall quality and appearance. Minor natural characteristics, such as light specks, subtle colour variation, or small cosmetic markings, may be present.
Select
A high-quality grade of willow offering an excellent balance of quality and value. More noticeable natural characteristics, including specks, cosmetic markings, colour variation, or grain irregularities, may be present.
Core
Quality willow selected to provide excellent value. A wider range of natural characteristics, including broader or irregular grain, butterfly markings, specks, pin knots, colour variation, and other cosmetic markings, may be present.
English and Kashmir willow are natural materials, and every cleft is unique. Variations in grain, colour, density, butterfly markings, specks, pin knots, and other natural characteristics are present in every grade. Willow is graded using an assessment of the overall cleft quality and appearance rather than any single characteristic. Cosmetic appearance alone should not be considered an indicator of a bat’s playing characteristics.
