Aegis is crafted from English willow, with a spine extending to the toe and a balanced pick up. Its mid to high sweet spot suits cuts and pulls, making it a good option for bouncier pitches. • Sweet Spot: Mid to high, suited to cuts and pulls.
  • Profile: Full length spine extending to the toe.
  • Concaving: Concaved on both sides of the spine for balance.
  • Pick-up: Balanced and controlled.
  • Suited To: Players who enjoy back foot stroke play or regularly play on bouncier pitches.

Willow Grading

How we grade willow

Pro

Selected

Our highest grade of willow, selected from premium clefts with exceptional overall quality and appearance. Minor natural characteristics, such as light specks, subtle colour variation, or small cosmetic markings, may be present.

Select

A high-quality grade of willow offering an excellent balance of quality and value. More noticeable natural characteristics, including specks, cosmetic markings, colour variation, or grain irregularities, may be present.

Core

Quality willow selected to provide excellent value. A wider range of natural characteristics, including broader or irregular grain, butterfly markings, specks, pin knots, colour variation, and other cosmetic markings, may be present.

English and Kashmir willow are natural materials, and every cleft is unique. Variations in grain, colour, density, butterfly markings, specks, pin knots, and other natural characteristics are present in every grade. Willow is graded using an assessment of the overall cleft quality and appearance rather than any single characteristic. Cosmetic appearance alone should not be considered an indicator of a bat’s playing characteristics.
